The Taylor South Eastside Project emerged with the purpose of documenting the rich heritage and upbringing experienced by the residents of Taylor, TX, specifically those residing in the south and east parts of town. It has come to our attention that a vast amount of historical significance lies beyond the borders of Taylor, extending to numerous rural towns across the nation. Regrettably, this valuable history is gradually fading away as the older generation passes on.
Recognizing the immense value of understanding one’s roots, we emphasize the importance of knowing where you come from, as it enhances the appreciation for the journey leading to your present and future destination. Furthermore, we aim to keep both former residents who have relocated and newcomers to Taylor, TX, well-informed about the local events and developments in the surrounding area.
Many young individuals are unaware that these areas once thrived as a tightly-knit community. Given the current circumstances in the county, it is now more crucial than ever for them to realize that they originate from a community that cherished unity.
We hold deep pride in our remarkable history and vibrant culture. Our aspiration is to honor the sacrifices made by those who came before us, paving the way for our achievements and enabling us to reach our fullest potential.
“History, despite its wrenching pain, cannot be unlived, but if faced with courage, need not be lived again.” Maya Angelou
